Mirror Memoirs is a national storytelling and organizing project intervening in rape culture by uplifting the narratives, healing and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and of color Two Spirit, transgender, non-binary, intersex and queer survivors of childhood rape and sexual assault.
Core Member is a Two Spirit, transgender, intersex, non-binary and/or queer Black, Indigenous or of color survivor of child sexual abuse who has: shared their story in the Mirror Memoirs audio archive and/or attended a Mirror Memoirs healing circle AND who has attended a Mirror Memoirs training institute. The first training institute was held in Oakland, CA in October 2019. A series of training institutes were planned for 2020 but canceled due to COVID. Mirror Memoirs will launch a training institute in late 2022. Core Members will have annual input into the Mirror Memoirs strategic plan through a Core Member summit that directly informs the Staff and Board strategic planning process. Jaden Fields is the primary staff liaison for Core Members.
